Release notes
Read these in reverse chronological order to see what's going on with the UBB Helper!
2011-03-18 :
Removed Rails dependencies which were causing all kinds of headaches.
Removed scrape, which nobody used anyway.
2010-06-09 :
- Redid the toobar buttons which were, admittedly, a bit long in the tooth.
-
Added a "link" button that allows you to add an arbitrary link in your text.
If you have selected some text in the editing window, it is simply made to
point to the URL you specify. If nothing is selected
-
If you enter a URL and no description then the URL becomes the description
as well.
-
If you enter both a URL and a description, then a link wrapping the
specified description is generated
Try it out. You'll like it!
2008-03-15 :
Added support for different sized images to link to lightboxes. And, for the geeks
among you, migrated the repo to git, Linus Torvalds' keen distributed source
control system.
2008-02-03 :
-
Created a more comprehensive "manual." A link at the bottom of the page will
take you there.
-
Added support for multiple-images linking too the same lightbox so you can
insert a series of images all of which link to the same lightbox.
-
Included really-keen-tooltips! These are mouse-hover reminders of what a given
text entry box really does.
2007-11-19 :
-
Support for off-site images that point to lightboxes. Just type in the entire url
including the http:// part where the image number went, and you will point to the
offsite image. Say, for example, you opened up Photoshop and created a panel of
four images that show off your lightbox. You save that as a jpeg and upload it to
(again, for example) http://yourdomain.net/whoever/you/are/images/my_lightbox.jpg. Now, when
you insert a lightbox link, type in the lightbox number as usual, but type in the
URL, http://yourdomain.net/whoever/you/are/images/my_lightbox.jpg, where the image number
used to go.
-
Lists! Do you think bulleted lists are the latest cheese? Well, they're in! To use
this feature, select the entire set of lines you want to make into a list and
press the "list" button. Et, voila!
-
Scraping by orientation. Ok, scraping lightboxes for images and presenting them in
a random order seems like a pretty keen thing to be able to to, right? Right. But
even cooler and far more useful is the ability to organize the images by orientation,
grouping vertical images together and horizontal images together. Well, that's now
the default behavior. Random has been removed for the time being.
2007-11-13 : Today's big news are two new features.
-
Microsoft Internet Explorer support for IE 6 and later! Yeah!!! Many thanks to busypix
for testing IE 7.
-
From the lightbox entry area, you can type in a lightbox number and press "scrape." after
a few moments an random selection of 15 images from the named lightbox will replace the text
in your entry box.
2007-11-08 : Added support for the quote tag. See? A new button, "quote," has appeared.
If you are answering someone else's post or sitemail and a quote hasn't been supplied
by iStockphoto's system, simply select the text you want quoted, then press the "quote"
button. Thanks to sylvanworks for this suggestion.
2007-11-07 : Added multiple-image insertion (thanks to qingwa for the suggestion). To use,
separate image numbers with commas, then when you press Doit! several images are inserted
into your UBB at once.
2007-10-27 : Initial "pre-release" ready to show! Features include:
- All JavaScript, all the time. Fast, no server load, everyone happy!
- Lightroom/Aperture "Darth Vader" look
- Ability to select text and boldface or italicize it
